Money on our Minds is a pocket guide for assisting in learning about personal finance and gaining confidence. I did research, both primary and secondary, to understand my audience and their needs and to compile the best information that would be relevant to them.
My final product was a wallet-sized booklet, packed with information from my research.

Process
For this research project I was asking these questions:
What are the feelings and perspectives that young adults have about money and how can design educate and positively impact those feelings?
In what ways can the culture surrounding money and financial security be improved to empower young adults to make confident and responsible financial decisions?
I conducted Primary and Secondary research in order to find more information that would help with my goal of creating an educational tool for college-aged adults like myself that were struggling with financial knowledge and confidence. Below are my findings.
Concept & Design
I was inspired by the bright and bold orange and wanted to use it heavily in my final booklet. I also knew I wanted this book to be mostly text based but still engaging. I used a mix of serif, sans-serif and script fonts and used the orange for a highlight. The fonts I used were Source Sans Pro, Times New Roman MT Condensed, and Sloop Script One.
I also received feedback from my peers regarding the shape and size of the booklet, and came to the conclusion that a smaller size representative of a wallet makes this pocket guide interesting. In order to play on that wallet size, I also incorporated a fake dollar bill image in the middle to break up the text-heavy pages.
